Protect yourself from scams with tips from BCSO, MHPD and Trilogy Media

KTLO recently partnered with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the Mountain Home Police Department and Trilogy Media to provide tips and guidance on how to avoid scams.

The event focused on raising awareness about common scams targeting residents, including phone, online, and in-person fraud. Law enforcement officials shared advice on how to recognize suspicious activity, protect personal information, and report attempted scams.

Lieutenant Mike Day, with the MHPD, urges the community and banks to give an anonymous tip, if they believe someone might be being scammed.

Sheriff John Montgomery shared several “automatic triggers” that should immediately raise red flags. If anoyone is asked to do any of these things, they should hang up the phone right away, do not provide any personal or financial information, and contact local law enforcement agency to report the call.
