
Arkansas State Parks celebrated the dedication of enhanced trails at Queen Wilhelmina State Park on Tuesday, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve outdoor recreation access and elevate visitor experiences at one of the state’s most scenic mountain destinations.
The ceremony at the Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge featured remarks from Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Secretary Shea Lewis, Deputy Director Jeff King, and First Gentleman Bryan Sanders.
The refreshed trail system includes new accommodations for mountain biking and improved conditions for hikers and sightseers exploring panoramic Ouachita Mountain overlooks. Officials said the upgrades are designed to provide new opportunities for both longtime visitors and first-time adventurers.
“Our work in Arkansas’ State Parks remains focused on stewardship, access, and the creation of unforgettable outdoor experiences,” Lewis said. “The improvements made here at Queen Wilhelmina invite visitors to explore the mountaintop in new ways and make lasting memories with family and friends.”
First Gentleman Sanders emphasized the role of outdoor recreation in strengthening Arkansas’ identity and economy, noting that projects like this support tourism and enhance quality of life.
