The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will hold a community briefing from 4 to 6 on Thursday to discuss the Route 160 bridge over Bull Shoals Lake at Theodosia. The meeting will be held at Theodosia Village Hall at 23 Village Hall Drive.
MoDOT and its team are conducting a study to examine potential alignment options for replacing the bridge. The study includes an alternatives analysis and the development of an environmental document identifying a preferred alternative.
MoDOT Project Manager Donna Philpot says “We’re currently gathering data on the existing environmental conditions.”
Philpot noted public interest in the project, especially with survey work underway and the historic bridge being offered for reuse through MoDOT’s free bridges webpage, is high.
Philpott says “The environmental and conceptual study will tentatively wrap-up in summer 2026. Next, we will progress into the design phase with construction beginning as early as fall 2028.”
While a preferred alternative hasn’t yet been identified, a key consideration is how construction could impact motorists.
Philpott explains “We are still early in this process, but the study is looking at ways to build a new bridge while keeping the existing structure open.”
The community briefing will be open-house style, and visitors can stop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m.
