Dora earns runner up finish at Class 1 girls cross country championships

The Dora Lady Falcons claimed the runner-up trophy at the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls Cross Country Championships held Saturday at Gans Creek in Columbia.Senior Isabelle Martin led Dora with a 13th-place finish in 21:01.6. She was followed by Haley Perkins in 31st (21:54.5), Kara Anderson in 47th (22:31.6), Alexis Anderson in 68th (23:30.1) and Kinley Luna in 83rd (23:52.6). Dora totaled 106 points to finish second behind School of the Ozarks, which won the state title with 60 points.

Norwood’s Jayden Chambers captured the individual championship in 19:09.4, while Chadwick’s Macy Landry placed ninth in 20:35.0.

Other strong finishes included Alton’s Emiley Fettig in 56th (23:08.8) and Kera Osborne in 58th (23:11.2). School of the Ozarks’ team victory and Blue Eye’s Adelyn Asbury’s 29th-place performance also highlighted the area’s showing.

In the boys’ Class 1 race, Dora finished 12th overall with a team score of 237. Sophomore Daniel Tomlinson led the Falcons, placing ninth in 17:08.3. He was followed by Jacob Perkins in 54th (18:11.9), Zachary Green in 100th (19:02.0), Josiah Ward in 130th (19:47.4) and Clifford Brashers in 149th (20:28.2). Hunter Dobbs and Logan Smith rounded out Dora’s team effort.

School of the Ozarks also claimed the boys’ team championship, while Van Buren and Kingsville finished second and third, respectively.
