Area schools are inviting the public to honor America’s service members during local Veterans Day observances set for Tuesday.

Mountain Home High School will host its annual “Freedom Isn’t Free” ceremony at 9:30 in the Dunbar Auditorium. The 45-minute event honors the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and active-duty military members, with all area veterans invited to attend.

The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by the Mountain Home NJROTC and remarks from State Representative Jason Nazarenko, who serves District 4, representing portions of Marion and Baxter counties. Nazarenko will reflect on service, sacrifice, and the meaning of Veterans Day.

Following the high school ceremony, veterans and guests will have time to travel to the community Veterans Day observance at the downtown plaza beginning at 11.

Later in the day, Cotter Public Schools will hold its own Veterans Day Assembly beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Representative Nazarenko, a Chief Warrant Officer Four and Army veteran, will also serve as the guest speaker. All veterans are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be provided following the assembly.

“Freedom Isn’t Free” has become a long-standing tradition at Mountain Home High School, bringing students, staff, and community members together to recognize those who have served. Cotter’s assembly continues the day of remembrance, offering a second opportunity for local residents to pay tribute to the nation’s veterans.
