
High school basketball action continued across north central Arkansas on Tuesday night, with several area teams taking the court in both senior girls’ and senior boys’ play.
In senior girls’ action, Yellville-Summit dropped its season opener to Nemo Vista, 49-39, while Melbourne fell to Nettleton, 78-51. Viola rolled past Concord, 59-20, and Mountain View came up short against Farmington, 72-41.
Cave City earned a solid 56-48 victory over White County Central, and Kingston edged West Fork, 44-40. Bergman cruised past Alpena, 77-16, to complete the varsity sweep, while Harrison dominated Gentry, 72-38. Jasper fell to Heber Springs, 83-54, and Rural Special claimed a 69-38 win over Ozark Mountain.
In senior boys’ play, Bergman kept rolling with a 71-45 win over Alpena, while Viola fell to Concord, 59-38. Harrison opened its season in style, defeating Huntsville, 73-49. Ozark Mountain improved its record with a 59-49 win over Rural Special, and Cave City edged White County Central, 69-68, in one of the night’s closest contests.
Elsewhere, Kingston fell to West Fork, 69-39, Bay dropped an 82-42 decision to Farmington, and Buffalo Island Central was topped by Tuckerman, 63-57.
