Marion County candidate filing closes

Candidate filings for the 2026 elections in Marion County ended Wednesday at noon, with several incumbents and new contenders entering county and local races.

In countywide races, incumbent Jason Stumph has filed as a Republican for county judge. Ruby Speak, also a Republican, has filed for county and circuit clerk.

Incumbent Gregg Alexander filed as a Republican for sheriff, and incumbent Tonya Eppes filed as a Republican for assessor. Shari Sharp filed as a Republican for collector, and Cyndi Mueller filed as a Republican for treasurer, joined by Amber Knowles, also a Republican.

In Justice of the Peace races, incumbent Chuck VonVelkenburg filed as a Republican for District 1, incumbent Sondra Lees filed as a Republican in District 2. Incumbent Travis Hopson filed as a Republican for District 3, incumbent Kolton Jensen filed as a Republican for District 4, Kale Wallace filed as a Republican for District 5, and incumbent Leslie Kerwood filed as a Republican for District 6 and incumbent Wesley Shipman filed as a Republican for District 7. In District 8, incumbent Tommy Dorsey filed as a Republicans and Miles Wellein along with John Rosenthal both filed as Republicans and will face off for District 9.

In local school board races, incumbent Curt Bryant and Roger Leonard have filed for the Flippin School Board. For the Yellville-Summit School Board, Robin Lee and Eleanor Davenport have filed as candidates.
