Longtime healthcare professional and community leader Jon Burnside has announced his candidacy for the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 5.

Burnside, who has served in multiple public service roles across Boone County, said his campaign will focus on education, healthcare, and local economic growth.

“I’ve spent my career working to improve opportunities and quality of life for the people of our community,” Burnside said. “From healthcare to education, I believe in practical, sensible leadership that puts people first.”

A familiar face in local governance, Burnside has served on the Harrison School Board since 2011 and currently sits on the North Arkansas College Board of Trustees. He’s also served with the Boone County Special Services Mountain View Estate Board, the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce, and its Foundation Board.

Professionally, Burnside has worked in healthcare since 1992 and is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the CARTI School of Radiation Therapy. His civic contributions earned him the 2017 John Paul Hammerschmidt Man of Distinction Award.

“Education, healthcare, and local growth are the backbone of strong communities,” Burnside said. “I’m running to ensure the values of North Central Arkansas are represented with integrity and common sense in Little Rock.”
