Missouri State extended its winning streak to five games with a 38-24 homecoming victory over UTEP on Saturday in Springfield.

Quarterback Jacob Clark set a school record with 30 completions, throwing for 330 yards and four touchdowns. Freshman tight end Jaron Askren caught two of those scores, while 10 Bears recorded receptions. Shomari Lawrence added 109 rushing yards and a touchdown on a career-high 25 carries.

The Bears (7-3, 5-1 CUSA) led 24-7 at halftime before UTEP rallied to tie the game 24-24 in the third quarter, aided by a blocked punt recovered for a touchdown. Missouri State responded with back-to-back touchdown drives in the fourth, including a 12-play, 75-yard go-ahead series and another score capped by a Clark pass to Dash Luke.

Missouri State’s defense held UTEP (2-8, 1-5) to 240 total yards. Kanye Young led the Bears with eight tackles, and DJ Wesolak recorded 2.5 sacks.

The Bears travel to Kennesaw State next week before closing the season at home against Louisiana Tech.
