A man from Missouri has been arrested by Marion County law enforcement for taking over $25,000 to build a pool for a Flippin couple but never started the job. Thirty-seven-year-old Michael John Dancer of West Plains is facing a felony charge of theft of property.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the victims filed a report in June saying they entered into a contract with Dancer, who operates Ozarks Pool and Aquascape in West Plains, last year to build them a pool on their property. In September of last year, they paid him $25,333 for construction that was to begin in February of this year. The construction never began and the victims contacted Dancer numerous times between February and June asking for him to refund their payment.

During an interview with investigators in July, Dancer admitted he used the money from the victims to cover losses from a previous job and for personal bills. None of the money received from the victims had been used towards construction of their pool.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dancer Sept. 17 and he was booked into the Marion County Detention Center Nov. 3. He is free after posting $25,000 bond.
