
Saturday’s Meet the Candidates Dinner hosted by the Baxter County Republicans saw incumbent County Judge Kevin Litty and challenger Eric Payne face off in their first public political meeting.The evening saw nearly all Republican candidates in Baxter County in attendance with eyes not only on the judge’s race but the race for the next Baxter County Sheriff as reported on Monday.The two candidates for Judge had ten minutes a piece to address the crowd and share their vision for the county going forward. Judge Litty spoke on his accomplishments through his first term and where he wants to focus should he be elected to a second term. Payne who currently serves on the Quorum Court as JP for District 11 spoke about his desire for increased transparency and a conservative approach to spending and taxation in the county.
Both candidates spoke with KTLO’s Heather Loftis preceding the event and Judge Litty says he wants to continue to build on the success the county has experienced during the last three years.

Payne says he was prompted to join the race by a desire to give back and be a part of making the county a better place for all its citizens.
