Bombers Season Ends in Benton

The Mountain Home Bombers 2025 season came to an end on Friday with a 63-49 loss at the hands of the Benton Panthers.

Benton would get on the board early with a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead in the first 2 minutes. Mountain Home would respond with a 75 yard rushing touchdown from Brantlee Phillips to tie the game at the 8:25 minute mark. Benton would flex their muscles and go on a 21-0 run to close out the quarter and lead the Bombers 28-7 after the first stanza.

Mountain Home would hold Benton at bay for half of the 2nd quarter. The Bombers would cut into the deficit with a 30 yard rushing touchdown from Barrett Miller to trim the Benton lead to 28-14. After a three and out, the Bombers would strike again with a 30 yard touchdown pass from Phillips to Bryce Kincade. Benton would score again to take a 35-21 lead into the halftime break.

To begin the quarter Phillips would throw an 85 yard bomb to Carter Adkins to cut the lead down to one score, 35-28. Mountain Home would get some help, on the defensive end, out of the halftime break in the form of Taylon Peterson who would step in front of a pass and pick it off. Soon after, Brantlee Phillips would rumble in to score another rushing touchdown for the Bombers to tie the game up at 35. Benton would secure another 7 points on a rushing touchdown to go up 42-35 into the final quarter. With 10:20 to go in the game it was Miller time once again as Barrett found the endzone for another rushing touchdown to tie the game 42-42. Benton would strike again to put the Panthers up 49-42. And after they forced the Bombers off the field they would score once again to go up 56-42. Mountain Home would launch one final gasp with a Phillips touchdown pass to Adkins to cut the lead to 56-49 but the Bombers would get no closer as Benton would score once more to finish off the 63-49 defeat for the Bombers.

Mountain Home would rack up a school record of 683 all-purpose yards. Brantlee Phillips finished 15-30 passing on 362 yards passing and 101 yards on the ground with 5 touchdowns. Barrett Miller, who became Mountain Home’s first 2000 yard rusher, added 252 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns. Mountain Home’s Carter Adkins hauled in 7 passes for 211 yards.

Mountain Home finishes the season 9-3.
