The Mountain Home High School Bomber Band spent part of this week doing what they do best: sharing music, spirit and pride with the community. Under the direction of band director Tom Chentnik, the ensemble delivered a spirited outdoor performance to local seniors featuring patriotic favorites, including “God Bless America”.
The performance gave the students a chance to showcase their talent beyond the football field and concert stage, connecting with listeners in a more personal setting. Residents stepped outside or opened their windows to take in the music, responding with smiles, applause and even a few emotional moments as the band played familiar American classics.
Chentnik said the students value opportunities like this that let them use their music to brighten someone’s day and represent Mountain Home pride. After the performance, band members took time to meet with listeners, reflecting the program’s emphasis on leadership, community service and character as much as musicianship.
The Bombers Band plans to return in December for a Christmas performance, offering another chance for students to bring their energy and talent into the heart of the community.
