A Mountain Home man arrested earlier this month on drug charges and being held in the Baxter County Detention Center is facing charges from a high speed pursuit in Marion County this summer. Fifty-three-year-old Kevin Dean Wilson faces three charges for the incident which happened in July.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Flippin Police Department, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Wilson’s vehicle for defective taillights. While the officer was checking his license, it was learned Wilson had two warrants and his driver’s license was suspended. While the officer was confirming the warrants, Wilson fled at a high rate of speed, which the officer estimated to be in excess of 90 miles-per-hour.
The pursuit continued out of the city and east bound on the U.S. Highway 62/412 Bypass. The officer noted his speed was 105 miles-per-hour. He estimated Wilson’s speed at 140 miles-per-hour at that point as they traveled east towards Baxter County.
The pursuit was terminated when the officer lost contact with Wilson’s vehicle.
A warrant was issued for Wilson’s arrest for a felony charge of fleeing and misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. He also faces a penalty enhancement of being a habitual offender.
PREVIOUS ARRESTS
Wilson has six previous felony arrests in Arkansas, five in Baxter County and one in Boone County dating back to 1990.
His charges include theft of property, domestic battery, fraudulent use of credit card, criminal trespass, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia,
He has been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections and given probation.
His latest arrest came Nov. 5 when his parole officer and an officer with the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force went to a residence where they had received information he was living. While there, they found drugs and paraphernalia. He was charged with felonies of possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Due to the number of felony convictions Wilson has, he also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender.
