A Magnolia man shot by a Magnolia police officer earlier this month has died, according to Arkansas State Police.
Michael Green, 53, died Wednesday, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Police said an MPD officer encountered Green around 1:40 p.m. Nov. 9 on South Fredrick Road, where Green allegedly brandished a firearm and fired at the officer. The officer returned fire, striking Green multiple times.
Green was airlifted to UAMS, where he later died from his injuries. His body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Magnolia Police Department requested the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the shooting. Special agents will submit their findings to the Columbia County prosecutor, who will decide whether the officers use of deadly force complied with state law.
