Arkansas State UniversityMountain Home is preparing for a major expansion of Gotaas Hall, home to the school’s health sciences programs. The project aims to strengthen the university’s role in training the next generation of healthcare professionals for north-central Arkansas.
The Arkansas Legislature approved a $6 million appropriation in 2024 to fund the expansion and modernization of the facility. The work will add new simulation labs, advanced technology for allied health programs, and additional classroom space to meet the growing demand for healthcare workers across the region.
KTLO News spoke with Dr. Bentley Wallace, Chancellor at ASUMH, who explains the details of the expansion.
The expansion will benefit several of ASUMH’s workforce-education programs, including certified nursing assistant, emergency medical services, practical and registered nursing, and other allied health tracks. University officials say the upgrades will provide students with more hands-on training in modern, hospital-like settings, including simulation and ambulance labs.
Updates on the expansion will be given as they become available.
