Traffic signals in downtown Mountain Home to be removed Monday

The City of Mountain Home has announced traffic signals in downtown Mountain Home will be removed Monday. The city first announced in July the signals at the intersection of Highway 62B and 8th Street would be removed to help with traffic flow through the city.Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams says crews will get started on the project about 7:00 Monday morning.

The Mountain Home mayor says the light at 8th and 62B has been there a long time, well before other lights were installed, which is why studies show it needs to be removed.

Adams says they have a request in with the Arkansas Department of Transportation to add a protected turn lane on 62B for northbound motorists turning left onto West Road.

Once the traffic lights are removed, motorists approaching Highway 62B from East 8th Street or South Main Street, will have a stop sign starting Monday.
