The Baxter County Quorum Court will hold its December meeting a day earlier than usual, convening Monday, at 5:30 on the second floor of the courthouse. The date was moved from Tuesday so County Judge Kevin Litty can attend a County Judge’s Association Board session.

The agenda includes several appropriations, transfers and an emergency ordinance related to county millage rates. Justices of the peace will consider an ordinance to appropriate $6,806 in October fees and reimbursements to the Sheriff’s Office for 2025, along with another ordinance transferring $6,244 from County General into the Juvenile Services budget. They will also review an ordinance to move $18,436 from the Road and Bridge Fund into Buildings and Grounds for next year.

A key item is an emergency ordinance to either uphold or repeal Ordinance 2025-54, the county’s annual millage levy, following discussion over Grover Township Fire Protection District increasing its rate from 3.0 mills in 2024 to 4.0 mills for 2025. The court will also take up an ordinance approving an interlocal agreement with the City of Mountain Home regarding the handling of district court accounting records and county-level programming support, also declared an emergency. In addition, a resolution is set for consideration to reappoint John Olson and Michael Saunders to the Buford Volunteer Fire Protection District Board of Commissioners.

Monday’s meeting is open to the public.
