Sales tax collections continue to rise

Baxter County sales tax collections showed modest growth in September 2025, according to figures released by county officials.

The county’s portion of sales tax rose 3.4% compared with the same month last year, an increase of $16,982, while the jail’s portion also grew 3.4%, up $7,454.

Year-to-date, the county has collected $103,330 more than last year, a 1.8% increase, and the jail’s portion is up $45,357. Budget projections for the year were also raised, with the county’s portion increasing 4.2% and the jail’s projections rising 3.5%.
