A man in his early 20’s facing serious drug charges appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division on Monday.
Cameron Baker, Jr., of Calico Rock is charged with trafficking drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trafficking is a Class Y felony, the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death. The punishment on conviction can range up to life in prison.
Baker is free on bond.
He and four other people were arrested stemming from their involvement in what are described as substantial drug dealings.
The dominoes began falling on October 29 when Baxter County sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.
The residence along U.S. Highway 62 East was being rented by Baker who allowed 35-year-old Wesley Grant Bray and his wife, 24-year-old Hannah Bray AKA Hannah Smolek, to live there.
During the investigation into the domestic disturbance involving Bray and his wife, deputies reported seeing suspected methamphetamine in the house.
A search warrant was obtained and almost 11 pounds of the drug was located in a vehicle parked on the property.
Hannah Bray told investigators both the 2018 Dodge Challenger and the methamphetamine belonged to Baker.
She said the methamphetamine in the car was part of a 15-pound shipment of the drug.
Baker was recently transferred to the Baxter County jail from Izard County where he was being held on the probation revocation.
Another person, 20-year-old Kadence Marie Martin of Mountain Home, identified as Baker’s girlfriend, is also charged with trafficking a control substance, simultaneous possession of guns and drugs and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Baker was reported to be staying in Martin’s apartment. When lawmen arrived at the apartment, Martin answered the door and Baker was found asleep in a bedroom.
A safe was found in the apartment and MHPD’s new drug dog Ace was brought to the scene and he alerted on the safe indicating the presence of narcotics.
After a search warrant was obtained for the safe, it was opened and 1.5 pounds of suspected cocaine, two firearms and $11,600 in cash were found.
Both Baker and Martin are represented by Gray Dellinger and Emily Reed.
The last person arrested was 20-year-old Carson Michael Grass of Mountain Home.
Grass had been staying at the residence where they Brays were living for several days and his 2016 Ford Fusion was parked at the residence.
on the day she talked to investigators, Hannah Bray told deputies that Grass had accompanied Baker to Russellville and that they were on their way back.
Grass is represented by Mountain Home attorney Jeremy Friend.
Martin is also free on bond.
