Bomber Swim Brings Home 3rd in Boys, 4th in Girls

Mountain Home’s Bomber swim team had a strong performance Saturday at Batesville’s Owen Memorial, earning several first-place finishes and setting numerous personal bests.Peeka Traver led the girls with first-place wins in the 100 freestyle, where she beat the next competitor by six seconds and set a personal best, and the 100 backstroke. Callie Kohler also took first in two events, winning the 50 freestyle by six seconds and the 100 butterfly. On the boys’ side, senior Benny Vetter claimed first in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, recording a state cut in the latter.

Sophomore Campbell Wendfeldt posted personal bests in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, improving over a second in the backstroke. Josh Worman set a personal best in the 50 freestyle at 26.38, while Kristy Neumann improved her 50 free time by seven seconds. Bryce Litty recorded a personal best in the 100 backstroke. Freshman Annabelle Horn earned personal bests in the 100 breaststroke (1:30.69) and 100 freestyle (1:04.69), and freshman Tyler Edwards set personal bests in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke (1:46.99), improving by seven seconds in both.

Mountain Home’s boys placed third overall and the girls finished fourth, with both squads edging Harrison in their season opener.
