Registered sex offender arrested for using Wi-Fi in Flippin city park

A registered sex offender has been arrested for using Wi-Fi in the Flippin City Park. Forty-nine-year-old Danny Shain Winnett of Flippin is facing two felony charges for the incident.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Flippin Police Department, an officer responded to a call of a sex offender being in the park which is not allowed. The officer found Winnett in the Walmart parking lot, about 300 yards from the perimeter of the park. Winnett admitted he had been in the park to use the public Wi-Fi.

The officer informed Winnett it is illegal for him to be within 2,000 feet of the park as a sex offender.

Winnett is charged with two counts of being a registered offender entering a children’s playground within a public park. He is being held in the Marion County Jail with bond set at $2,500.

SEX OFFENDER STATUS

Winnett is a level 3 sex offender for two separate crimes in two counties in Arkansas.

He was found guilty in Marion County in 2000 for one count of third degree carnal abuse for a 1999 crime.

Also in 2000, he was found guilty of three counts of third degree carnal abuse Prairie County.

OTHER ARRESTS

Winnett has been convicted of four other crimes in the state.

He was convicted in Hot Spring County in 2018 of second degree battery.

In 2000, he was found guilty in Marion County of two counts of forgery.

Also in 2000, he was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Prairie County.

A Washington County crime in 2006 led to Winnett being convicted of residential burglary and theft of property.
