King died from injuries sustained in the crash. A minor riding in the Volkswagen was also killed, according to the report.
Riggs and four additional minors were injured. Arkansas State Police Communications Director Cindy Murphy said the injured were transported to hospitals in Jonesboro, Memphis and Little Rock. King was initially taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured and had no passengers.
Lake City Mayor Cameron Tate reported Friday evening that a head-on collision had closed Highway 18 east of the city. Tate initially stated that four people had been killed, but state police confirmed Sunday that the crash resulted in two fatalities.
