The Mountain Home Bomber swim team brought home multiple first-place finishes and a long list of personal bests from Saturday’s Owen Memorial meet in Batesville.
Peeka Traver led the way with two wins, taking first in the 100 freestyle with a personal best time and a six-second margin over the field. Traver also claimed first place in the 100 backstroke.
Callie Kohler continued her strong start to the season, winning the 50 freestyle by six seconds, and adding another first-place finish in the 100 butterfly.
Senior Benny Vetter also brought home two victories, winning the 200 freestyle and posting a state-qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke to take first place in that event.
Several Bombers recorded standout improvements. Sophomore Campbell Wendfeldt dropped time in both the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, improving by more than a second in the backstroke. Josh Worman set a new personal best in the 50 freestyle at 26.38, and Kristy Neumann cut seven seconds off her previous best in the 50 free.
Bryce Litty delivered another big drop in the 100 backstroke, while freshman Annabelle Horn earned two personal bests the 100 breaststroke in 1:30.69 and the 100 freestyle in 1:04.69. Freshman Tyler Edwards also posted major drops, gaining personal bests in both the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, with improvements of seven seconds in each event.
