Beard named Officer of the Year by Cotter PD

The Cotter Police Department took time to recognize the dedication of one of their officers on Wednesday at City Hall.Patrolman Brad Beard was named this year’s Officer of the Year with the department stating he has demonstrated an exceptional dedication to the community. In a social media post that evening they went on to say “We appreciate his tireless efforts and honored him for his outstanding service.”

Officer Beard has been with the department since 2023 and also works under Judge Jodi Carney in Mountain Home as a misdemeanor probation officer. A graduate of Mountain Home High School, his career in law enforcement began in late 2020 with the Arkansas Department of Corrections and he also worked as a jailer for the Baxter County Sheriff’s office before taking on his current positions.

This year’s Officer of the Year tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News he was surprised and honored to have been recognized in this way.

Beard’s daughter, a 7th grader at Cotter Public Schools, is what drew him initially to the job and he says he is thankful for the opportunity to serve a community that has become a part of his family’s life.
