VFW Post 3246 donates toys, $4,500 to support Mountain Home schools Christmas program

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3246 donated toys and a $4,500 check to support the Mountain Home School District’s LT Thrift Store Christmas Wish program during a presentation Dec. 9 at Nelson Wilks Herron Elementary School.The donation will help provide Christmas gifts for students across the district, assisting families in need during the holiday season.

Representing VFW Post 3246 were Senior Vice Commander Greg Hartman, Quartermaster Kevin Hawks, Bingo Chairman Jay Papineau and Assistant Chair Patty Papineau, along with past Auxiliary President Charlotte Guest. Nelson Wilks Herron Elementary counselor Katie Criner joined the group for the presentation, which included a group of second-grade students dressed as “helper elves.”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from VFW Post 3246,” Criner said. “Their generosity directly impacts families right here in our community and helps make Christmas brighter for so many of our students.”

Organizers also thanked the VFW Canteen and bingo players whose participation helps make the annual donation possible. The LT Thrift Store Christmas Wish program works throughout the holiday season to ensure students referred to the program receive gifts.
