While much of the Twin Lakes area saw springlike temperatures this December, residents at Hiram Shaddox Health & Rehab still got to experience a white Christmas.
Thanks to a snow machine donated by Ron and Mary Ann Caster of Colton’s Steak House, artificial snow fell across the facility’s grounds, giving residents a chance to enjoy a winter scene more typical of colder holiday seasons.

Residents gathered outside to watch the snow come down, many reaching out to touch the flakes, smiling and laughing as the unexpected snowfall continued. Staff members and family visitors joined in, helping create a festive atmosphere despite the unseasonably warm weather.
Joey Caster, administrative assistant and marketing director at Hiram Shaddox, said the event was especially meaningful for residents who may not have seen snow in several years.
“Christmas has always been incredibly important to my family,” Caster said. “Being able to help make someone else’s Christmas a little more magical – especially our residents – means the world to me.”
The donation from Ron and Mary Ann Caster highlighted the strong community support surrounding the facility, staff said. Organizers noted that moments like the snow event help lift spirits and create lasting memories for residents.

While the flakes may not have been real, staff said the joy certainly was, proving that a little creativity, and a lot of heart, can still bring Christmas magic, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
