An Arkansas resident received a record-breaking Christmas gift after winning the $1.817 billion Powerball jackpot in Wednesday night’s Christmas Eve drawing.
The winning ticket was sold at a Murphy USA gas station in Cabot, according to Arkansas lottery officials. It marks the second time a Powerball jackpot has been won in Arkansas, with the first coming in 2010.
The winning numbers were 4, 25, 31, 52 and 59, with a Powerball number of 19.
The prize is the second-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history and the largest Powerball jackpot won in 2025. The winner has the option of taking a lump-sum cash payment of $834.9 million.
Arkansas law allows lottery winners who claim prizes of more than $500,000 to remain anonymous, and officials said the winner is expected to exercise that option.
“Congratulations to the newest Powerball jackpot winner,” Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn said in a statement. “This is truly an extraordinary, life-changing prize.”
The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery said the drawing also produced other big winners in the state. A ticket sold in Rogers won $100,000, while another sold in Little Rock won $50,000.
