A physical altercation during a child pickup led to the arrest of a local man on December 26.

32-year-old Dustin Dearmore is facing charges of fleeing on foot, failure to appear, disorderly conduct, and a previous time to serve under Act 570.

Deputies were dispatched shortly before 5:00 to a residence on Highway 5 South for a reported fight. According to the report, a male victim said Dearmore punched him in the face and the two went to the ground. A female victim was also involved in a separate physical altercation with Dearmore’s girlfriend.

When deputies arrived, Dearmore had already fled the scene. Officers searched the area and were alerted by citizens who reported seeing a shirtless man run across the highway. Another group of residents later located and detained Dearmore on their property.

Dearmore was taken into custody without incident and transported to jail. During transport, deputies say he acknowledged he was aware officers were looking for him and admitted to fleeing to avoid arrest.

Authorities also confirmed Dearmore had an active warrant at the time of the incident. Bond is set at $930.
