Central Arkansas women’s basketball struggles to find its shooting touch Saturday afternoon, falling 64-51 to Florida Gulf Coast in ASUN play.

The Sugar Bears drop to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference, shooting just 26 percent from the floor. Despite the cold day offensively, Central Arkansas forces 18 turnovers and scores 21 points off Eagle miscues.

Cheyanne Kemp and Bree Stephens lead the Sugar Bears with 12 points apiece. Kemp carries the offense early, scoring eight of Central Arkansas’ 10 points in the first quarter, while Stephens does most of her damage in the second half. Shae Littleford adds 10 points, marking her 12th double-figure scoring game of the season.

Florida Gulf Coast builds a double-digit lead by halftime as the Sugar Bears struggle to generate consistent offense, then holds off Central Arkansas’ second-half push. The Sugar Bears increase defensive pressure after the break, forcing 11 turnovers over the final two quarters, but FGCU answers from the free-throw line to maintain control.

Central Arkansas returns home for the first time in more than a month next week, hosting Bellarmine on Thursday at 6:30, followed by Eastern Kentucky on Saturday at 1.
