A Mountain Home man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit on Highway 178 West on the evening of December 30.According to the probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year-old Henry DeAtley was observed driving a small vehicle at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 178. As a deputy turned onto the highway to follow, DeAtley reportedly passed a white SUV pulling a trailer in a no-passing zone near the 3100 block. Law enforcement activated emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The pursuit continued west, with deputies reporting speeds reaching approximately 130 mph in a 45 mph zone. DeAtley passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone before making a left turn into the parking lot of Dodge Specialist near the 4800 block. Once stopped, DeAtley rolled down the driver’s side window and threw his keys out of the vehicle.

Deputies approached DeAtley with his service pistol drawn and instructed him to exit the vehicle and lie on his stomach, which he complied with. DeAtley was handcuffed, and deputies confirmed the vehicle, a 2005 blue Infinity G35, belonged to him. Records showed the vehicle’s tags had expired in June, and insurance status could not be confirmed.

According to the report, DeAtley admitted he fled because he was speeding and did not have valid insurance or tags. Deputies transported him to the detention center, where he continued to acknowledge that he had made a mistake.

DeAtley is charged with fleeing felony, reckless driving, speeding, driving without insurance, expired tags, and two counts of improper passing. He is free on $2,500 bond.
