Several area girls basketball teams are earning statewide recognition in the latest Arkansas high school basketball rankings.
Mountain Home is ranked No. 4 in the Class 5A poll with a 10-5 record. The Lady Bombers also received votes in the overall rankings, continuing to gain traction as conference play continues.
In Class 3A, Mountain View remains near the top at No. 2 with a 15-3 record. Melbourne moved up to No. 3 in the same classification at 18-1, while Bergman checked in at No. 5 with a 20-6 mark. All three programs remain strong contenders as the postseason approaches.
Norfork also received votes in the Class 1A rankings, keeping the Lady Panthers on the statewide radar.
Statewide, Farmington leads the Class 5A poll, while Fort Smith Northside holds the top spot in Class 6A, but several area teams continue to position themselves for strong postseason runs.
The rankings were voted on by a panel of sports media from around the state for the week ending Jan. 3.
