Coming off a big win over No. 19 Tennessee, Arkansas freshman Darius Acuff Jr. has earned multiple national and conference honors, including Jersey Mike’s Naismith Men’s College Basketball Player of the Week, NCAA March Madness National Freshman of the Week, Dick Vitale’s Diaper Dandy of the Week, and, for the fourth straight time, SEC Freshman of the Week.

Acuff is only the fifth player in SEC history to earn four consecutive SEC Freshman of the Week honors. All four others were coached by John Calipari, including John Wall, Nerlens Noel, Devin Booker and TyTy Washington.

This week, Acuff averaged 23 points and five assists while shooting 57.1% from the field, including 46.2% from three-point range, in wins over James Madison and Tennessee. He scored 17 points and handed out six assists against James Madison, then posted a career-high 29 points against Tennessee, including two clutch three-pointers late in the second half.

Acuff has excelled against top competition this season, averaging 21.2 points and 6.7 assists in six games versus top 25 teams, while maintaining 17.9 points and 5.5 assists versus non-ranked opponents. He is one of only three players in the NCAA to average at least 19 points, shoot 50% from the field, and hit 40% from three-point range — and the only one to also average over 5.5 assists.
