Bombers Bludgeon Harrison, Lady Bombers Use Late Run to Get a Gob

The Mountain Home Bombers and Lady Bombers opened up 5A-west conference play on Tuesday night at Goblin Arena in Harrison.

The night would begin with the Lady Bombers taking on the Lady Goblins. Mountain Home would get off to a fast start leading 16-11 after the first quarter. Harrison would outscore the Lady Bombers 17-13 in the 2nd quarter but would still trail 29-28 going into the halftime break. Mountain Home and Harrison would only muster up 8 points apiece in the third stanza and Mountain Home would hold a slim 37-36 lead into the 4th quarter. Harrison would throw a quick 4-0 run at the Lady Bombers to take a 40-38 lead. However, the momentum would shift in favor of the Guests as Mountain Home would score 21 points in the final half of the 4th quarter and finish off a 59-49 victory on the road.

Brooklynn Mitchell, Jayla Yonkers, and Livi Fosness all scored 16 points for Mountain Home.

The Lady Bombers improve to 10-5 on the season and 1-0 in 5A-west conference play. Mountain Home will be back at home on Friday against Russellville.

In other action around the conference Farmington ran past Siloam Springs 68-25, Alma snuck by Russellville 60-56, and Greenwood went on the road and defeated Van Buren.

The boys game was, essentially over before it started. Mountain Home would get out to a 12-4 lead to close out the 1st quarter. Harrison would get no closer the remainder of the game. Mountain Home would outscore the Goblins 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 25-10 lead into the halftime break. The onslaught would continue in the third quarter as the Bombers would take a 39-16 lead into the final quarter. The Arkansas Activities Association Sportsmanship rule would be put into effect halfway through the 4th quarter and Mountain Home would cruise to the 59-23 victory.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Cody Cormican with 21 points. Bailor Tate would add 11 points.

Mountain Home improves to 9-8 on the season and begins conference play 1-0. The Bombers will entertain Russellville on Friday.

In boys 5A-west action Alma beat Russellville 80-65, Van Buren invoked the mercy rule against Greenwood 75-45, and Farmington defeated Siloam Springs 68-52.
