Friends of the Baxter County Library announce 2026 scholarship opportunity

The Friends of the Baxter County Library are now accepting applications for the 2026 Friends of the Library Scholarship. This annual scholarship supports Baxter County students pursuing higher education and reflects the Friends’ long-standing commitment to investing in the community’s future.

Each year, multiple scholarships are awarded, with amounts typically ranging from $800 to $1,500, depending on donations. In 2025, awards included one $1,500 scholarship, one $1,000 scholarship, and two $800 scholarships.

The 2026 scholarship is open to Baxter County high school seniors who have a minimum 2.5 GPA, are residents of Baxter County, and have been accepted to an accredited institution of higher education.

A complete application includes a 1,200–2,000 word essay on this year’s topic:
“Take a definitive stand on the complex role of artificial intelligence in educational environments.”

Essays will be reviewed by an independent judging panel. Top-rated applicants will be invited to interview with the Friends of the Library Scholarship Committee in May. Scholarship recipients will be announced and receive their certificates at the Friends of the Library General Meeting & Program on May 27 at 1:30.
