A man and woman are in custody after deputies say their dogs attacked two people Wednesday in Saline County.

Saline County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a dog bite on Diamond Hills Cove. Officials said three dogs bit two individuals walking on the roadway. The victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the dog owners failed to properly confine the animals. The dogs were seized, and the owners were arrested and charged with unlawful dog attack. The suspects, identified as Alyssa Barnhart and Casey Jones, also face first-degree assault charges. Jones is additionally accused of theft of property and unlawful transfer of stolen property to a pawn shop or pawnbroker.

Authorities noted this is at least the third reported dog attack in Saline County since June 2025. Earlier incidents included a Benton woman hospitalized after a dog attack and a fatal attack that claimed the life of 15-year-old Makayla Fortner in Bryant.
