Architectural rendering of proposed Marion County Community Center
Voters in Marion County are less than three months from deciding the future of a newly proposed community center to be located in Yellville.
The proposed 41,000 square foot facility would include areas for aquatics, a banquet hall, multipurpose room/gymnasium and varied meeting/activity/community rooms. The center would be located near the intersection of Highway 14 South and Highway 235 in Yellville on property encompassing 26 acres.
The Marion Quorum Court on December 8, 2025 advanced to the March ballot the two ordinances that would set the sale tax requests before voters. The first tax would be a temporary half cent sales tax to fund the building of the community center with a second quarter cent tax that would be permanent to fund operations and maintenance. According to current numbers the permanent quarter cent tax would generate roughly $500,000 annually.
