Arkansas drivers can now add a splash of color to their vehicles with the latest edition of the state’s Conservation License Plate, featuring a painted bunting, a bright summer resident of the state.
Designed by Greta James, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s award-winning art director, the plate depicts the bird among a tallgrass prairie and marks her 10th design for the program. Each plate raises $25 for conservation initiatives, including scholarships, internships, materials for nature centers, and land acquisitions to improve hunting and fishing access.
The painted bunting is the ninth bird to appear on a conservation plate in Arkansas, following species such as the bald eagle, northern cardinal, and barred owl. Plates are available online at the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration website and at revenue offices statewide.
