
The night began with Mountain Home falling in the junior varsity boys game 59-53.
The Lady Bombers looked to build off their victory Tuesday night at Harrison. And in stunning fashion the Lady Bombers sprinted out of the gates to take a 17-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Russellville would fight back and only be outscored by Mountain Home by 1 as the Lady Bombers would take a 32-18 lead into the halftime break. Mountain Home would pick up the tempo on the heels of Jayla Yonkers and Brooklynn Mitchell who both chipped in 6 points in the 3rd quarter to help the hosts take a 54-32 lead into the final stanza. Russellville would actually outscore the Lady Bombers 15-13 but it would get the Cyclones no closer than 20 as Mountain Home would polish off the 67-47 victory in The Hangar.
Mountain Home was led in scoring by Livi Fosness with 22 points. Jayla Yonkers added 15 points, Brooklynn Mitchell added 12, and Laken Anderson provided 10 points of her own.
Mountain Home improves to 12-5 and 2-0 in the 5A-west and will face Siloam Springs on Tuesday at home.
In other 5A-west action Greenwood defeated Harrison 63-47, Farmington ran past Alma 69-41, and Van Buren beat Siloam Springs 43-31.
Mountain Home’s boys would cap off the night after a 59-23 throttling of Harrison on Tuesday night.
Mountain Home would fall in a 7-2 hole to start the game and would respond with a 12-0 run. The Bombers would take a 16-12 lead into the 2nd quarter. A 7-0 run from Russellville would help them rally to a 27-27 tie at halftime. Mountain Home and Russellville would play to a 9-9 draw as the game headed into the final stanza tied at 35. The Bombers would put the nail in the coffin closing the game on a 18-9 run and taking home the 54-45 victory on Friday night.
Mountain Home was led in scoring by Rhett Gilbert with 23 points. Drew Haney added 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds.
Mountain Home improves to 10-8 and 2-0 in the 5A-west and will be back in action Tuesday night against Siloam Springs.
In other 5A-west action Greenwood squeaked by Harrison in overtime 63-39, Farmington drilled Alma 86-47, and Van Buren defeated Siloam Springs 78-70.
