The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is now accepting applications for the Spring 2026 semester. Single mothers and fathers seeking financial support for higher education can apply at aspsf.org/scholarships. The deadline is Feb. 1.
Applicants must be pursuing an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or professional certificate. Awards range from $400 to $1,600, depending on enrolled credit hours, and funds are sent directly to recipients to help cover essential needs such as rent, child care, gas, utilities, and school-related expenses.
In 2025, ASPSF awarded 31 scholarships totaling $38,600 to single parents in Baxter County, including Patrice Proffett, a nursing major at Arkansas State UniversityMountain Home. “This scholarship means so much to me,” Proffett said. “Not only as financial assistance, but as a reminder that there are people who truly believe in single parents like myself. It lightens the load and allows me to focus on my education and my children’s future.”
Statewide, ASPSF awarded over 1,300 scholarships totaling $1.9 million across 69 Arkansas counties and Bowie County, Texas up from 832 awards totaling $1.2 million in 2024. The program is funded by donors, organizations, schools, businesses, and foundations committed to the transformative power of education.
In addition to financial support, ASPSF provides mentoring, career guidance, and workshops to help student parents stay on track and succeed long-term. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, be enrolled in at least one three-credit course, maintain a 2.0 GPA, meet income guidelines, and engage with the program through regular communication and workshop participation.
