A former Baxter County resident required to register as a sex offender in early 1999 has been arrested and charged for numerous violations of the rules and regulations governing registration. He is now in jail in Washington County for yet another violation.
Forty-four-year-old Jason Matthew Brannon is listed as homeless on the Washington County jail log. When he lived in Baxter County, he listed an address in Gassville on court documents.
In 2018, Brannon was one of two inmates who escaped from the Searcy County jail. He was captured in fairly short order. He was being held on a bench warrant issued in Baxter County.
Brannon was required to register following a conviction for first degree sexual abuse in March 1999. According to police reports, Brannon, who was reported to be 17-years-old at the time, was accused of forcefully grabbing a 14-year-old female and touching her inappropriately.
He has been picked up and jailed in Baxter, Izard, Marion, Searcy and Washington Counties. Brannon has picked up a total of seven charges of violating offender regulations in four of the counties since he originally registered.
Brannon is classified as a Level 2 offender, meaning there is a moderate risk he might reoffend.
