It was a scary moment Saturday afternoon when a Mountain Home school bus was involved in an accident in Madison County while returning from a band competition. But Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey says the district couldn’t have asked for a better response from everyone involved including the bus driver, emergency personnel and the Kingston school district for lending a bus to get the uninjured students home.
Three Mountain Home students were injured and taken to Arkansas Children’s Northwest Hospital in Springdale where they were treated and released. All three of those students were back at school Monday according to Dewey.
She says they have folders on each bus with instructions on what to do in case of an accident which she feels were exactly what they needed Saturday.

Dewey says once emergency services arrived and the injured students were taken care of, law enforcement started working with the remaining students to contact parents.

The Mountain Home Superintendent says the school has an important asset in Dr. Matt Sutton who has helped the affected students.
