Baxter County library turns the page with new ebooks and book clubs

The Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County is expanding opportunities for adult readers with new digital collections and an enhanced lineup of book clubs designed to support a wide range of reading interests.The Library has added two All-Access eBook collections in the Libby app, both Romance and Mystery. These collections provide unlimited, simultaneous access to hundreds of popular titles with no holds or waitlists. The Romance All-Access Collection includes more than 1,700 eBooks, featuring contemporary and historical romance, romantasy, westerns, and more. The Mystery All-Access Collection offers whodunits, thrillers, and suspense novels. To keep selections current, some titles will rotate quarterly, with new additions added regularly. All titles are available with a library card.

The Library has also expanded its book club offerings. Lens on Literature meets the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 and focuses on nonfiction and real-life stories. The Whodunit Society meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10:30 and is a cozy mystery club with coffee, tea and informal discussion on each month’s selection. All Booked meets on the third Tuesday evening of each month at 6 and features library staff picks. For this club attendees can enjoy sharing and discussing favorite reads, with in-person and Zoom options. The Friday the 13th Book Club meets only on each of the 3 Friday the 13th’s of the year in February, March and November to enjoy eerie-themed reads.

Ales & Tales, hosted at Rapp’s Barren Brewing Co., meets on the second Tuesday evening each month at 6 and features live readings with a portion of the event’s proceeds supporting the library. Patrons may also check out Book Club in a Bag kits which offer multiple copies of titles located on the Special Collections wall to allow patrons an opportunity to host independent book club with friends.

To encourage participation, the Library is offering a Book Club Punch Card allowing patrons to earn prize drawing entries by attending book clubs.
