An 18-year-old Benton man is in custody, and another man remains in intensive care after a fight over the weekend in Hot Springs.

Police said Cooper Camferdam turned himself in Monday afternoon and is charged with first-degree battery. Authorities say the incident stems from an earlier altercation at a party involving Camferdam and 20-year-old Noah Epperson.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the Circle K on Malvern Avenue, where they found Epperson unconscious. Police say he had been punched and repeatedly kicked, and video evidence shows Camferdam stomping on Epperson’s head, leaving him critically injured.

Epperson remains in the ICU with a fractured skull, a ruptured eardrum, and brain bleeding. Police said others who recorded the fight should have called authorities instead.

Investigators have identified additional persons of interest and expect more arrests.
