
The Missouri men’s basketball team came up just short against No. 21 Georgia Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena, falling 74-72 in a nail-biter. The Tigers are now 13-6 on the season and 3-3 in SEC play.
Senior Mark Mitchell led Missouri with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jayden Stone added 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Jacob Crews scored 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers.
Missouri battled back from early deficits throughout the game, tying it at 20 in the first half and taking the lead briefly in the second. But Georgia rallied late, hitting a crucial basket in the final seconds to seal the victory.
The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field and made 11 of 12 free throws, while holding the nation’s top-scoring offense to just 36.9 percent shooting.
Missouri returns to Mizzou Arena Saturday to take on Oklahoma, with tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
