Baxter County crews brace for winter storm, prepare for hazardous conditions

Baxter County officials say road crews are prepared to respond as a winter weather system approaches the area this weekend.Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News with the addition of new equipment the county is as prepared as it can be. He adds crews are prepared to work through whatever conditions develop.

Unlike state highway crews, the county does not have the capability to pre-treat roads with liquid solutions. Litty said county crews respond after snowfall begins and are prepared to work around the clock.

Litty said his biggest concern is the potential for ice or sleet beneath the snow, though he hopes the storm remains snow-only.
