Central Arkansas women’s basketball rolls past West Georgia

Central Arkansas picked up a strong home win Wednesday night, defeating the West Georgia Wolves 87-66 at the Farris Center. The victory improves the Sugar Bears to 11-8 overall, 4-3 in ASUN play, and 5-1 at home.

Four Sugar Bears scored in double figures, led by Shae Littleford with 17 points. Bree Stephens added 16, while Cheyanne Kemp and Laylah Reese each had 15. Central Arkansas dominated inside, scoring 46 points in the paint and dishing out 19 assists on 35 made baskets.

The Sugar Bears built an early lead with a 9-1 run late in the first quarter and extended it to 13 at halftime. Central Arkansas held one of the ASUN’s top offenses to just 24 first-half points, shooting 33 percent overall.

In the second half, the Sugar Bears continued to control the game, responding to West Georgia runs and pushing the lead as high as 27 in the fourth quarter. Central Arkansas finished the game with a 17-1 run over a span of minutes late in the fourth, essentially putting the game out of reach.

The win snapped a five-game winning streak for West Georgia and showcased the Sugar Bears’ strength inside the paint and in ball movement.
