The St. Louis Cardinals completed a three-team trade with the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, sending All-Star infielder Brendan Donovan out of St. Louis in exchange for three prospects and two Compensation Round B selections in the 2026 MLB Draft.

St. Louis acquired right-handed pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, outfielders Tai Peete and Colton Ledbetter, along with draft picks currently projected at No. 68 and No. 72 overall.

Cardinals President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom said the move adds athleticism and long-term upside to the organization’s talent pipeline while expressing appreciation for Donovan’s impact on and off the field.

Cijntje, 22, was the Mariners’ first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. The ambidextrous pitcher advanced as high as Double-A Arkansas in his first professional season and entered 2026 ranked as Seattle’s No. 7 prospect by Baseball America.

Peete, 20, was selected 30th overall by Seattle in 2023. The left-handed hitter posted 19 home runs and 63 RBIs in 125 games at High-A Everett in 2025 and has experience in both the outfield and infield.

Ledbetter, 24, a second-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2023, reached Double-A Montgomery last season. The Mississippi State product has posted back-to-back 30-steal seasons and owns a .269 career average in the minors.

Donovan, 29, spent four seasons with the Cardinals after being drafted in 2018. He was an All-Star in 2025, won a Gold Glove as a utility player in 2022 and was a Silver Slugger finalist last season.
