With just over three months remaining until the projected opening of Mountain Home’s new Aquatic and Community Center, the city has opened up membership registration for local residents.
Membership applications opened up on Monday with many options available to individuals, seniors and families. Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Director Daniel Baxsley says along with different membership types certain lengths of commitment can unlock further discounts.

Baxsley encourages those with questions to come by or contact their offices at the LC Sammons Youth Center in Cooper Park as they continue to refine the membership details.

The center includes three interconnected buildings, each offering distinct amenities. The aquatic wing will feature a full indoor competition pool, a therapy pool for rehabilitation and wellness, and a shallow wading pool designed for families and swim instruction. Plans call for a lazy river, water slides, and a splash pad.
The second building houses a gymnasium capable of hosting large-scaled meetings, yet transition to host basketball, volleyball and pickleball, along with an elevated indoor track for walkers and runners. The third space will operate as the community center, providing a fitness area, free weights, a cafe, as well as 2 different concession stands.
With opening day still on track for Memorial Day weekend the city is getting excited to bring a flagship facility to Mountain Home.

DISCOUNTS
From the most recent city council meeting:
Mayor Hillrey Adams announced they have made a decision on pricing for disabled veterans for the new Mountain Home Aquatic and Community Center. The council approved rates for the center at its last meeting but pricing for disabled veterans, which was proposed at a flat 10%, was going to be discussed.
Adams says after a meeting this week, it has been decided disabled veterans can bring in their VA Benefit Summary Letter which shows their disability level and that will be their discount. For example, someone who is 50% disabled, will receive a 50% discount. The discount will only be for the veteran, not for family members.
