The Bomber and Lady Bomber basketball teams looked to improve to 2-0 on the week on Friday night.

The night began with the Lady Bombers looking to complete the season sweep over Russellville. When the teams last met the Lady Bombers dominated the Cyclones 67-47 in The Hangar roughly a month ago. The first quarter would see Mountain Home struggle to buy a bucket, but would still head to the second quarter with a 16-10 lead. The second quarter would see the Cyclones outscore the Lady Bombers 17-15, but would still trail 31-27 into the halftime break. Mountain Home hit the “on” switch in the third quarter, throwing a 28-10 run at the Cyclones in the 3rd quarter to take a 59-37 lead. Mountain Home would not invoke the mercy rule but would extend the lead as high as 28 to finish off the 75-47 victory and complete the season sweep of the Cyclones.

Mountain Home was led in scoring by Brooklynn Mitchell with 24 points. Jayla Yonkers would add 23 of her own, and Livi Fosness would have another double-double adding 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Mountain Home improves to 17-6 on the campaign and 8-1 in 5A-west conference play.

The Bomber boys would look to complete the sweep of the Cyclones in the nightcap. In the last meeting between the two clubs the Bombers would escape with a 54-45 victory. The first quarter would see the Bombers come out with a flurry of threes to run out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter. Mountain Home would turn up the intensity on defense, holding the Cyclones to 5 points in the second period to take a 37-17 lead into the halftime break. The third quarter would see the Bombers hold the Cyclones to only 7 points in the third stanza to roll to a 53-24 lead into the final quarter. Russellville would prevent the mercy rule from being invoked and launch a final charge to cut the lead to 18, but would get no closer as the Bombers would pull off the 64-40 walloping of Russellville.

The Bombers were led in scoring by Rhett Gilbert with 26 points. Drew Haney would add 20 points of his own as well.

Mountain Home improves to 14-11 on the season and 6-3 in the 5A-West.

Mountain Home will be back in action on Tuesday night against Siloam Springs
